Suzhou embroidery (苏绣) originated in the Jiangsu province over 2,500 years ago. It is renowned for its exquisite detail, elegant stitches, and the use of silk threads so fine that a single thread is often split into 8 to 16 strands.
Hand-embroidered over 72 hours by a master artisan
The embroiderers we work with have practiced this craft for decades — some learned it from their mothers and grandmothers. Each fan can take 5 to 15 days to complete, depending on the complexity of the design.
